Varsity volleyball earns third-place finish at Far East Tournament

The varsity volleyball team wrapped up its Far East Division II Tournament on Saturday by placing 3rd place. CAJ first beat MC Perry 3-2 (24-26, 15-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-12), then lost 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 16-25, 6-15) to Edgren in the semifinals and finished by winning 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-11) against EJ King in the 3rd place game.

Coach Steve Hall offered comments on the first and third games from the day:

"We had a bunch of hitting errors in the first two sets [against MC Perry]," Hall said. "We played much better in the last three sets to come back and win the match.

Hall said that "the girls were playing on fumes" by the third match against EJ King, since CAJ had to play five sets for the third time in one day.

"They played tough all day," Hall said of the team. "They had their ups and downs, but they finished well!"

CAJ had two players selected as All-Stars for the tournament: Mitsuki and Mari.

The Knights' season is now finished. They ended with an overall season record of 11-17.
