Varsity girls' basketball beats ASIJ 41-30

CAJ’s varsity girls' basketball team finished its season at ASIJ on Tuesday night. The Knights won 41-30 on the strength of good offensive execution, coming back from an 11-2 deficit in the first quarter for a sizable win.

“One of the things that has plagued us in the second half of the season is not having consistent shooting,” coach Craig Eby said. “I think we got some confidence back in that area [tonight]."

The Knights’ motivation to win their final game of the season was very high. Winning against the Mustangs counted twice in the league standings since the first game between the two teams was canceled due to snow.

“We all really, really wanted to win, since it cost two games," Julia said. "Everyone pushed really hard until the end, especially on defense."

CAJ got good scoring production from Erika (15 points), Rachel (nine) and Julia (eight). Julia had 17 rebounds, while Erika had nine and Kachel had eight.

The Knights finished the season with an overall record of 16-11 and a league record of 12-4, which gave the team the second-best record in the Kanto Plains.
