JV girls' basketball beats Yokota 24-15

The JV girls' basketball team was, however, able to defeat Yokota on Thursday. In a slow-paced defensive battle, the Knights won 24-15 and improved their league record to 8-4.

CAJ gradually built its lead and held strong enough on the defensive end to keep the Panthers from ever going on a major scoring run.

"I really liked our shot selection in this game," coach Jared Johnson said. "We were getting most of our points on fast break layups, and we defended well in transition to keep Yokota from getting those type of shots. Many of their attempts were tough outside shots at the end of the shot clock."

Raven led the Knights in scoring with eight points, while TaYoung, Yuka and Nana all had four points. The rebound leaders were Nana and Jessica with 11 each and Yuka with seven.

While the varsity girls are at Far East, the JV will travel to ASIJ for a game next Tuesday.
