HS boys' tennis loses 5-0 to St. Mary's

The high school boys' tennis team lost 5-0 against St. Mary's on Saturday. The Knights' season record is now 1-1.

With nice, cool weather making for comfortable matches, coach Koji Yamabe said CAJ players were able to make good progress on the court against a very strong team.

Yamabe noted that one highlight from the match was how Abhirupan and Junu played at the No. 2 doubles spot for both of their first official match of the season.

"It was nice to see them communicating with each other often during the game and encouraging each other," Yamabe said.

Two other highlights from the match were Minoru playing tough at No. 3 singles and Hugo (10th grade) winning several individual games at No. 1 singles. Minoru received his opponent's strong serves very well and Hugo was very competitive and showed a lot of humility after the match, Yamabe said.

These are the full scores from Saturday:

1st Singles- Hugo (10th grade) loses 0-2 (4-6, 2-6)
2nd Singles- Shun loses 0-2 (0-6, 1-6)

1st Doubles- Joel and Peter lose 0-2 (2-6, 1-6)
