HS boys' cross country loses to ASIJ

The high school boys' cross country team lost to ASIJ by a score of 20-37 at Tama Hills on Saturday. The Knights now have a 3-1 record this season.

After last week's 5k race at the lower course, the team moved back up to the 4.4-kilometer upper course. CAJ's fastest runner from the meet was William, who finished sixth out of 41 varsity runners with a time of 16:42.9. Ken (11th grade) (16:58.2, 8th), Shawn (17:05.4, 10th), Lukas (17:32.9, 16th) and Hikaru (17:39.2, 18th) rounded out the top five performances by CAJ.

Coach Nate Rudd was very satisfied that 10 of the 14 high-school boy runners were able to achieve their goal times for the day.

"We had some huge personal records on the boys' side, some by multiple minutes, which was very exciting," Rudd said. "[In our front pack], it was exciting to see William take the lead and help push Ken and Shawn toward them reaching strong personal-record performances. Overall, the training and the cool weather provided excellent results for us today."

The Knights will run the upper 4.4-kilometer course again at Tama Hills next Saturday.
