Boys' soccer completes first day of Far East Tournament

The boys’ soccer team kicked off its Far East Tournament at Misawa Air Base on Monday with two pool play victories, defeating E.J. King 10-0 and Yokota 2-0. Coach Keesh Kawaguchi offered the following thoughts on the first day of the tournament:

"This style of tournament is like a marathon - I'd like to think that the best managed and the healthiest team in terms of the mental and physical aspect of their players has the best chance to win it all.

I try to create some kind of normalcy in my players' daily living here in this unfamiliar environment, and thanks to our chaperone Mr Sawada and our players' earnestness, our players are in good health and in great spirits so far.

The real challenge is ahead of us, though. We have at least two 60-minute games tomorrow, depending on the outcome, and two 80-minute games on Wednesday, all as they try to wrap up their academic year strong as well.

Please continue your support in your prayers!"

In the two games combined, CAJ got multiple goals from Jacky (4), Joshua (11th grade, 3) and Angus (2), as well as one each from Mish, Takara and Eugene. Takara had two assists, while Eugene and Jacky each had one.

CAJ begins the double-elimination tournament on Tuesday against Daegu at 9:15 a.m.
