JV boys' basketball loses 72-22 against ASIJ

The high school JV boys' basketball team hosted ASIJ on Monday. The Knights lost 72-22.

Varsity coach Steve Hall stepped in to coach the game, and he said the Knights' were caught off guard by the Mustangs' ability to score quickly in transition, especially compared to CAJ's other opponents.

"We gave up a lot of easy baskets in transition by not getting back quickly enough or not picking up our guy quickly enough," Hall said. "[Defensively], we were just a step slow on everything."

Hall added, "it got a lot better in the second half, especially the fourth quarter. We played a 1-3-1 zone and did much better with that."

Lukas had 10 points and Taiyo had five points for CAJ.

JV's Kanto Plains record is now 0-7. Varsity will play at the ASIJ Kanto Classic Tournament this Thursday to Saturday, but JV's next game isn't until February 5 at ASIJ.
