MS boys' basketball teams lose all three games at St. Mary's

The middle school boys' basketball teams each played and lost at St. Mary's on Saturday. A Team lost 39-31, B Team lost 33-15 and C Team lost 29-10.

A Team was competitive in its game, but it ultimately lost to bring its season record to 2-3.

"We were able to stay in the game in spite of the height and quickness of St. Mary's," coach Steve Hall said. "Fatigue made it difficult for us to make shots in the second half."

B Team struggled on offense against a tough Titans team. The squad's season record now stands at 3-3.

"St. Mary's played a hard-nosed man-to-man defense and didn't allow us to get many good looks," coach Charles Smoker said. "We played fundamentally good basketball but we couldn't convert our opportunities enough to keep pace with them."

In the B Team game, Suyoung had seven points, Eastin had five points and Junu had three points.

The C Team had a tough time at the beginning of both halves in their loss. The Knights' record is 3-5 this season after Saturday's play.

"After a slow start where we went scoreless in the first quarter, we got to within four by the half," coach Lorne Anderson said. "St. Mary's came out very aggressive in the second half and we struggled to respond. We have one more game left to up our intensity and try to get a win to finish things off."

The A Team will play at ASIJ next Tuesday, while all three teams will next be in action together next Saturday at CAJ versus NIS.
