Varsity girls' basketball Far East Tournament cancelled after Day 1

The varsity girls' basketball team's Far East Tournament in Okinawa was cancelled on Thursday at the end of Day 1 of the tournament due to the spread of coronavirus in South Korea. CAJ won two games and lost one game in pool play before the cancellation.

CAJ's games were as follows: a 39-6 win against MC Perry, a 41-22 win against Edgren and a 41-34 loss against Daegu.

Against MC Perry, CAJ's dominant performance allowed the entire team to get a lot of playing time. Anna (12 points) and Rachel (eight points) led the scoring, and Mari and Nana had seven and four rebounds, respectively.

CAJ played close with Edgren in the first half but opened up its lead after halftime. Coach Craig Eby added that the Eagles "were very aggressive compared to our last meeting, and we came away with a lot of bruises as a team."

Anna, Mitsuki and Rachel all had nine points against Edgren. Anna had seven rebounds and Jessica had six rebounds.

Finally, the Knights struggled with foul trouble early against Daegu, but Eby added that the team "fought hard." Scoring numbers weren't available, but Anna and Jessica had nine rebounds each.

With the cancellation of the tournament, the varsity girls' basketball team's season is now finished. The Knights finished the season with a 18-6 record.

In addition to the Knights' strong overall record, they placed third in the Kanto Plains with 10 wins and three losses against league teams.
