MS girls' soccer A Team places fourth in season-ending tournament

The middle school girls' soccer A Team finished its season on Saturday with a fourth-place finish at the league tournament at ASIJ. CAJ won its first game against St. Maur before losing to ISSH and YIS in its subsequent games.

Coach Kathryn Lewis summed up the day and the season with the following comments:

"In their final tournament of the season, they won their crucial first game in a match that went to penalty kicks. In the subsequent semifinal game, they met a strong ISSH team and fell behind early. Although they continued to battle relentlessly until the end, they suffered their first loss of the day.

In the final game, with just a short rest, they played like warriors to take an early lead and were able to hold on to keep the game tied, but this time narrowly lost out in heartbreaking penalty kick. Each team member should be proud of the progress they made this season both individually and in working as a team.

I want to give a very heartfelt thank-you to the parents and other fans who supported us through wins and losses, windy, bitter cold, rainy and finally today's very welcome warm weather. We appreciate all of you and we hope we were able to glorify God in our play.

Well done, Lady Knights!"

The scores of the games for CAJ were as follows: 1-1 vs. St. Maur (prior to penalty kicks), 6-1 vs. ISSH and 3-3 vs. YIS (prior to penalty kicks). Juna had two goals during the day, and Devika, SooMin and Hikari each had one goal. Kiera also had one assist.

The Knights' season is now done. They ended the year with a 4-5-1 overall record and were also third place in league play prior to the tournament.
