JV volleyball gets one win and one loss against ASIJ

CAJ's JV volleyball team played against two ASIJ JV teams on Thursday night. The Knights lost to the Mustangs' JV A Team 2-0 (18-25, 16-25) and then defeated the Mustangs' JV B Team 2-1 (16-25, 25-16, 15-12).

Coach Haruka Akashi was very satisfied with her team's performance in both games, even though one of them resulted in a loss.

"This gave me a glimpse of what the girls are capable of doing and how much they have improved since the beginning of the season," Akashi said. "We had really good rallies. Especially in the first game, we played well on both offense and defense."

Akashi singled out impressive performances of Jessica as a hitter from the middle and Emi as a first-time libero.

She still points at aggressiveness to the ball as a point improvement. "Some of my fastest girls would give up on balls I knew they could get," Akashi said.

The Knights' overall season record is now 5-6. Their next game will be at home on Saturday against Kinnick.
