Varsity boys' basketball loses one game on Day 3 of Kanto Classic

The high school varsity boys' basketball team played one game on Saturday in Day 3 of ASIJ's Kanto Classic Tournament. The Knights lost 47-26 to eventual champion Father Duenas in the second round of the tournament.

CAJ had earned a bye in the first round of the tournament due to its 4-0 record in pool play, which included a 47-30 win over Father Duenas. However, the lower-seeded Friars played with a lot of intensity in Saturday's game and the Knights struggled to make shots.

"When we beat them [previously], we were making shots and everything seemed to click," coach Steve Hall said. "Today, it was tough from the get-go. It almost felt like whatever we tried, nothing seemed to work. The physical nature of the game got into our minds today, and we didn't play with the confidence we had yesterday when we played so well against them.

That's going to be key for us, if we're able to win even when we're not making shots."

Varsity's overall season record is now 13-5. Both the varsity and JV teams will play next at ASIJ on Wednesday, February 5.
