HS and MS wrestling teams compete at Kanto Finals

The CAJ high school and middle school wrestling teams compete at Kanto Plains Finals at St. Mary's on Saturday. The Knights finished sixth out of six teams with 14 points in the high school tournament.

In the high school tournament, the Knights had three top-four finishes: Joe (115 pounds) was third, and Peter (122) and SungWon (180) were fourth in their weight classes.

"Joe was definitely outwrestled in his first matchup, but he came back and looked strong in his next match to place third," coach Morris Yaegashi said. Other highlights from the high schoolers that Yaegashi brought up were some gritty performances from Amon and Peter as well as SungWon wrestling "much better than he has in the past."

Regarding the middle schoolers, Yaegashi said, "they wrestled their hearts out. They're a bunch that is going to be a force to be reckoned with when they reach high school. Coach Fambro and I get excited at the prospect of them getting better and better each year and becoming beasts."

Below are the individual weight class tournament results for the high school:
115- Joe loses first round, wins consolation final match to place third
