HS track team competes at Yokota and Fuchu

The high school track and field teams competed at two different meets on Saturday. The boys were at Yokota, while the girls were at Fuchu.

At Yokota, the boys had many high finishes and Far East qualifying marks. One of the highlights was the 4x100 meter relay team of Josiah, Philip, Leo and Kaito posting a time of 45.13 in its first time competing as a group. This easily qualified the Knights for Far East and is the fifth-best mark in CAJ history.

"All the handoffs today were good, so that was our main successful point," Kaito said. "We probably can win Far East this year, so we're going to try our best to improve our handoffs and run again at [Kanto] Finals and Far East."

The Fuchu meet had much fewer competitors and took place on a 300-meter track, but the Knights still produced an amazing total of 25 personal-best performances as a team at that meet.

Here are the top-three individual performances and top-two relay performances from the day (Far East qualifying marks are denoted with an asterisk):

Yeonjoo- 2nd in 200 meters (30.07), 2nd in 400 meters (71.63)
Krista- 3rd in 800 meters (2:42.97)
Raven- 1st in 100 meter hurdles (19.20)
Megumi- 1st in 300 meter hurdles (55.49), 1st in long jump (4.11 meters)
Annabelle- 3rd in discus (21.88 meters), 1st in high jump (1.40 meters*)
Girls' 4x100 meter relay team (Megumi, Yeonjoo, Safari, Raven)- 1st (56.72)
Girls' 4x400 meter relay team (Mariko, Krista, Teruyo, Morgan)- 1st (4:40.47)

The entire high school team will be back competing together next Saturday (4/28) at Yokota.
