Field hockey completes dominant 6-0 victory against ASIJ

The field hockey team submitted an excellent performance on Monday night at home, defeating rival ASIJ by a score of 6-0. The Knights are now 2-0 this season.

According to coach Victor Eby, CAJ did an excellent job keeping the ball on its offensive side of the field. The Knights had 11 short corner plays, while the Mustangs had just three.

"Our midfielders were making really good stops for the entirety of the game," Eby said. He added that, "in a good game, we usually have around 40 defensive saves. In this game, I think we had well over 60. Our goalie never even touched the ball."

Eby also credits a good fan turnout from parents and other CAJ high school students for helping the winning cause.

CAJ's lead was 2-0 at halftime before it opened up the margin significantly in the second half. In all, the Knights got four goals from Meg (senior), and one goal each from Reeko and Morgan. Rina had two assists, and Rika and Reeko each had one assist.

"In addition to Meg as the high scorer, Miyuki as our sweeper and Rina as our center halfback definitely affected the course of the game and kept everything together," Eby said.

The next official game for the Knights will be after Christmas break on January 19 at ASIJ versus BST and YIS.
