JV volleyball finishes 4th place at JV Tournament

The JV volleyball team placed 4th out of 8 teams at its season-ending tournament on Saturday at ASIJ. The Knights beat UWC ISAK 2-1 (28-26, 19-25, 16-14) in the first round, then lost 2-0 (20-25, 16-25) against ASIJ in the semifinals and lost 2-1 (21-25, 25-22, 10-15) against Kinnick in the 3rd place game.

"The girls were able to show what they are capable of doing as a team," assistant coach Haruka Akashi said. "We had moments where we were giving away easy points from our mistakes. But I was impressed with how they managed to come back stronger. If the tournament had happened a couple weeks ago, they would struggle doing that."

Akashi added, "the girls improved their serves and serve receive, and they hit harder. They were moving on the court really well. What I really like about this group of girls is how they are able to challenge each other on the court. They are not afraid to speak up and tell each other what they need to do. I'm excited to see them play again next year!"

CAJ's JV volleyball team ended the season with a 10-6 record.
