HS boys' tennis defeats Zama 4-0

The high school boys' tennis team won 4-0 at Zama on Tuesday. The Knights' season record is now 2-1.

"The coaches were impressed and relieved that everyone won and was also able to adjust to Zama's bouncy hard court in a short amount of time," coach Koji Yamabe said. Yamabe noted that it was an especially great day for Junu and Abhirupan, who each won their first official tennis match at 2nd doubles. They let a 6-0 lead turn into a 6-4 lead, but Yamabe said they regained concentration and confidence well to finish out the win.

Yamabe added that Hugo and Shun played their singles matches consistently with few mistakes. Peter and Joel were losing 4-2 in a tiebreaker, but they fought back to win the tiebreaker 7-4 and the overall match 8-7.

These are the full scores from Tuesday:

1st Singles- Hugo (10th grade) wins 8-2
2nd Singles- Shun wins 8-4
3rd Singles- Double forfeit (no team wins)
1st Doubles- Joel and Peter win 8-7 (7-4 win in tiebreaker)
2nd Doubles- Junu and Abhirupan win 8-4

Both of CAJ's tennis teams will play at YIS on Friday.
