Girls' soccer plays first day of ASIJ Invite

CAJ's girls' soccer team began the ASIJ Girls' Soccer Invite on Friday with a 4-0 loss to Kadena. The Knights' record this season is now 5-3-2 against varsity teams.

While both halves were 2-0 in Kadena's favor, Coach Steve Hall said the team's performance before and after halftime was quite different.

"This has been a recent pattern, but it was a tale of two halves," Hall said. "We haven't been energetic or aggressive in first halves, which gets us into trouble. We played much better in the second half. But in soccer, it's hard to come back."

Kachel commented that the team needed to pressure the ball more when Kadena had possession to help create better scoring chances. She also mentioned the frustration of preparing mentally as a team for games against strong opponents.

"We always go into the game saying that we want to win, but I don't think the team actually felt the determination or put forth the effort that was needed to succeed today," Kachel said.

CAJ will continue the tournament on Saturday. Bracket play will begin for the Knights at 10:50 a.m. against Seisen.
