HS girls' cross country forfeits against Yokota and Kinnick

For the second straight meet, the high school girls’ cross country team only had four healthy runners at Tama Hills. Because of that, the Knights unfortunately had to forfeit matches against Yokota and Kinnick on the lower course on Thursday.

On the 5-kilometer course, CAJ was led by Kiera, who finished 8th out of 77 runners with a time of 21:54.3. Finishing out the rest of the Knights’ four runners were Sion (22:41.9, 14th), Anna (24:54.4, 36th) and Sara (28:14.2, 65th).

Full results from the meet are available here.

Coach Nate Rudd was very happy with the performances of CAJ's runners who were able to compete. Two of CAJ's four girls (Sion and Sara) beat their previous season bests on the lower course by one minute or more.

"Our girls did great," Rudd said. "It was a great day for a lot of them. Anna had a competitive final sprint during the last 200 or 300 meters that she ended up winning."

The Knights’ next official meet will be on October 21 and 22 at the Asia Pacific Invitational in Chiba. However, there are optional meets for high school runners on Saturday, 10/5 and Saturday, 10/12.
