JV volleyball wins 2-1 against Kinnick

The JV volleyball team hosted Kinnick on Saturday and won by a score of 2-1 (21-25, 25-22, 15-13). CAJ's record now stands at an even 6-6 with most of the season completed.

Coach Haruka Akashi was pleased with the Knights' ability to bounce back after their first-set loss.

"We had a lot of serve misses in the first set," Akashi said. "It wasn't that we didn't have enough power to get the balls over, but more with controlling and keeping them in."

For the next two sets, she noted a big improvement not only in serving, but in some other areas.

"We had great hitting opportunities and some great serves again. Both captains, Jessica and Rina, had some great hits," Akashi said. "In comparison to our previous games, the girls communicated much better as a team."

CAJ's next game will be next Tuesday at home against Yokota. That night will also be the volleyball teams' "Dig Pink" event to raise funds for breast cancer victims.
