Varsity girls' basketball loses to ASIJ

The varsity girls' basketball team played at ASIJ on Wednesday. The Knights lost 29-26 against the Mustangs.

Sustained cold shooting for both teams led to a low-scoring game between the Knights and Mustangs that was close throughout.

"It wasn't a great shooting night, but we did a good job defensively and on the boards against a team that was bigger than us," coach Craig Eby said.

Eby said he's confident heading into a busy, difficult next week of games that includes games against Zama and ASIJ. CAJ, Zama and ASIJ all have just one Kanto Plains loss apiece.

"Considering everything, I feel good coming away from this game, especially knowing that ASIJ played a good game against Zama," Eby said.

For the Knights, Anna had nine points and eight rebounds, Rachel had seven points and six rebounds and Jessica had five points and 13 rebounds. Mari also had 18 rebounds.

Varsity's overall season record is now 14-3, and its league record is 8-1. The team will play at Seisen on Thursday.
