CAJ’s boys’ soccer team finished off an undefeated season on Wednesday with two victories over Yokota, 5-0 and then 7-0, to win the Division II Far East Tournament. The Knights’ final record for the season was 14-0-1.

Coach Keesh Kawaguchi offered the following reflections on the season:

“Sometimes in life, the Lord gives us amazing gifts and treats in our lives to remind us how amazing things can be when a group of believers come together to put their heads together. This season was it.

I had known about CAJ for close to seven years prior to this season, and I always prayed that the Lord would give me another coaching opportunity in my life, perhaps at a Christian school, and maybe something like CAJ if it were in Tokyo.

So that started my journey of coaching these guys here at CAJ. It has been an amazing ride, and my hope and prayer is that they will always look back on the experience of this season and remember how special it was in every aspect.

Thank you, Takara, Kevin, Josh, Mish, and Seth! You did it! I'm so proud of you."

On the final day of action, Angus scored four goals, Joshua (11th grade) and Enosh had two each, and Masaki, Seth, Jacky and Mish each had one. Enosh provided two assists, while Angus, Takara, Stephen, Joshua (11th grade) and Eugene all had one apiece.

Angus was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Jacky, Takara and Kevin joined him on the All-Tournament team. Joshua (11th grade), Jacky and Angus were CAJ’s representatives on the All-Far East team, which takes into account the whole season.
