Varsity girls' basketball beats Seisen 43-21

CAJ’s varsity girls’ basketball team spoiled Seisen’s Senior Night on Thursday with a big 43-21 win on the road. The Knights gradually pulled away in the second half with great rebounding and tight defense.

“We didn’t let them have very many second efforts. We also kept the ball away from [Seisen star player] Amanda,” coach Craig Eby said. “In the last game against them, she hurt us in the fourth quarter driving the ball grabbing rebounds.”

Eby added that this effort was “better than any of the games we had at Far East.” Erika also noted that passing was a major factor in the Knights’ excellent game.

“We were calmer this time against Seisen, and we threw a lot of good passes around [the court],” Erika said. “We really took our time on offense.”

CAJ had three players in double figure scoring: Julia (13), Erika (12) and Kachel (10). Those three were also the top three rebounders, with Julia and Erika grabbing 10 boards and Kachel grabbing nine. Angela added seven rebounds.

The Knights’ league record is now 10-4. They will play their final game of the season at ASIJ next Tuesday.
