HS girls' soccer loses 5-0 to ASIJ

The high school girls' soccer team fell 5-0 at ASIJ on Thursday evening. The Knights' Kanto Plains record is now 2-4-1 after the loss.

Coach Charles Smoker presented his recap of the game for CAJ:

"ASIJ is a very good team, and they came out in the first half to not only win, but dominate in their last home game. We came out with determination, but ASIJ scored two goals in the first 15 minutes that took away some of our determination.

If we were able to call a timeout, we could have regrouped, but obviously soccer only has halftime. ASIJ scored two more goals before the half to go up 4-0. After halftime, we regrouped and held our own except for a late goal by ASIJ to go up 5-0.

After the game, we discussed how thankful we should be to be able to come and play a good team like ASIJ because they expose our weaknesses. And by exposing our weaknesses, we can learn and grow. We are growing and we are learning.

This game will help our preparations for Far East. We worked hard today, hustled and played with guts. We just need to play smarter and not hesitate going for the ball. It was a good learning experience and we can be thankful."

The Knights will host Seisen at 10 a.m. on Saturday to continue their league schedule.
