JV volleyball loses 2-0 to Zama

The JV volleyball team fell 2-0 (20-25, 12-25) to Zama on Tuesday. The loss moved the Knights’ season record to 2-4.

Once again, it was psychological issues that hurt the team. The Knights struggled to play with confidence after a difficult start.

“We weren’t focused and wanting to win as much as we [needed to],” Rina said. “The first few mistakes got us down, so I think we need to focus on our mentality.”

Coach Haruka Akashi added that “the girls need to be mentally strong so that they can reach their full potential. I reminded them that they need to play good volleyball in order to have fun.”

Akashi did commend the team for its improved serving consistency and ability to find the setter with the first hit. However, she mentioned that the team’s anticipation and energy to the ball could have been much better.

The Knights’ next games will be Saturday at CAJ against YIS and St. Maur.
