MS soccer teams lose two games at ASIJ

The middle school soccer team played two games at ASIJ on Saturday. A Team lost 5-0 and B Team lost 6-5, moving their season records to 3-3-1 and 1-3, respectively.

Coach Charles Smoker gave his thoughts on the A Team game:

"We let in an easy goal in the first half, and then had a good look in front of ASIJ's goal but couldn't convert," Smoker said. "We played well and were only down 1-0 with 10 minutes left in the game. We had to gamble a bit to try for an equalizer by going to a 4-4-2 formation, but unfortunately that allowed ASIJ to attack more and they scored four goals in eight minutes."

Smoker added that ASIJ's A Team is undefeated. "We gave them a good run for 60 minutes, our best 60 minutes of the season."

"B Team played well," Smoker also said. "We had chances, even one with 60 seconds left to go, but we missed just wide. Their season is done now, but I hope all the guys play next year!"

Next Saturday is the A Team tournament at ASIJ.
