MS soccer ties once and loses once to BST

The middle school soccer teams faced BST on Saturday. The Knights tied the A Team game by a score of 2-2 and lost the B Team game 10-3.

Coach Charles Smoker said the A Team entered the game ready, but BST was even more prepared. BST scored its first goal in the first six minutes of the game, but the Knights did well to prevent another goal in the first half.

Smoker said the Knights started moving the ball into BST territory a lot more in the second half, pushing on the defense and creating more scoring opportunities. CAJ scored two goals in the second half to take a 2-1 lead, but had a defensive lapse with about nine minutes to go to lead to the 2-2 tie.

Suyoung and Eastin had the Knights' two goals, with Suyoung scoring on a penalty kick.

"It was a good start to the season, even though we had a little bit of regret that we couldn't put them away when we had them on the ropes," Smoker said.

Because of CAJ's number of players, the Knights had to use some players from the A Team game in the B Team game as well. In the B Team game, Smoker said the Knights played well, especially with it being the first game ever for five players. However, BST started scoring early and often.

"It was a good effort, but we were simply overwhelmed by their level of skill," Smoker said.

Simon, Ryosei and Nathan all scored for CAJ. Ray had an assist. CAJ's teams play next Saturday at St. Mary's.
