HS wrestling loses dual matches against St. Mary's and Yokota

The CAJ high school wrestling team faced off against St. Mary's and Yokota in home dual meets on Wednesday night. The Knights lost 48-6 to St. Mary's and 49-4 to Yokota.

Coach Morris Yaegashi said the team showed a lot of improvement in the second match, despite the score.

"After St. Mary's, I pulled them aside and let them and told them that they weren't wrestling the way they ought to wrestle," Yaegashi said. "We were being more on the passive side of things. In the second half, we went out there with a lot more confidence. Even though Peter, Tai and Amon all lost, their matches were a lot better, content-wise, because they were forcing more scramble situations and going for more attacks."

Yaegashi continued to give credit to the small CAJ team for doing its best despite having a relatively small amount of combined match experience on the team.

"The guys are doing really well with they've been given," Yaegashi said.

Below are the individual weight class match results against St. Mary's for which CAJ had an available wrestler:
115- Joe wins by decision (14-6)
122- Peter loses by fall
141- Tai loses by technical fall (10-0)
148- Amon loses by technical fall (10-0)
180- SungWon wins by regular decision (8-0)
180- SungWon loses by fall

Below are the individual weight class match results against Yokota for which CAJ had an available wrestler:
