MS girls' volleyball gets one win and two losses at NIS

The middle school volleyball teams won one game and lost two games at NIS on Saturday. A and B Team both lost, but C Team won.

A Team lost 2-0 (14-25, 10-25), moving its record to 0-3. Coach Erika Mine said the Vikings were a tough team with lots of strong serves and consistent spiking, and hat CAJ performed well in spite of the loss.

"The Knights were talking and getting to the other side of the court consistently," Erika said. "It was one of the best games the team has played so far this season. As the coach, I saw a lot more teamwork and motivation from each member of the team. A Team will practice serve receive in order to try and win next week!"

B Team lost 2-1 (25-22, 19-25, 14-16) to move its season record to 1-3.

"The girls were playing better and better as a team and there were some really good rallies!" coach Marian Mine said. "Rion, one of our captains, made 100 percent of her serves and Anna had some really great plays at the net. Keep it up, Lady Knights!"

C Team is still undefeated after barely edging out NIS for a win by a score of 2-1 (19-25, 25-21, 17-15).

"The C Team girls had a great game today," coach Annabelle Deakin said. "They started off a bit rough during the first set, but thanks to Moana, Hikari and Sarang who hit some strong overhand serves, the girls were able to win the second set 25-21. The girls fought hard during the third set and pushed through to win 17-15. Day by day I can see improvement in these girls and I am excited to see what more they can do in their upcoming games."

CAJ will host Aoba's B Team next Tuesday at 5 p.m., and the B and C Teams will also host BST on Wednesday. All three teams will be in action next Saturday at home against Seisen and a Yokota club team.
