HS boys' tennis beats Yokota 4-1, girls lose 3-2

The boys' and girls' tennis teams both traveled to Yokota on a chilly Tuesday night for matches against the Panthers. The boys won 4-1 and the girls lost 3-2.

For the boys, Kitt (1st singles), Joe (2nd singles), Hikaru (3rd singles) and Kento and Eugene (1st doubles) were all able to defeat their opponents, while Shuntaro and Takumi (2nd doubles) lost. On the girls' side, Kaitlyn (1st singles) and Hanna (2nd singles) won, and Kiara (3rd singles), Raven and Jenny (1st doubles) and JaeEun and Sophie (2nd doubles) lost. Individual game scores are not available for the matches at this time.

Coach Ushio Sawada had some comments of note on both the boys' and girls' performances:

"The No. 1 Yokota guy was really good, but Kitt was able to hold his own and win a really close match. Kitt is more of an aggressive player, and his opponent was more of a pusher, so Kitt was able to dominate the game by dictating the shots and finishing them off.

On the girls' side, it was nice that both seniors could win today. Both of them had more experience than their opponents, but it was definitely a highlight that both of them could get wins."

The next tennis match for both teams will be on Saturday at home against Kinnick.
