MS soccer loses a pair of 9-0 games to ASIJ

CAJ's two middle school soccer teams went to ASIJ on Saturday morning to play games against the Mustangs' A and B Teams. Both the A and B Teams for the Knights lost 9-0.

A Team coach Keesh Kawaguchi was encouraged with his team's performance against ASIJ. He said:

"We are all about building a solid foundation and a harmonious environment of teamwork. All of our players displayed improvements from the previous game. I am very excited about that.

Due to injuries and missing players today, we had a few players from the B Team sub in for us from the second half. I appreciate that type of support. I thank each and everyone who played today for not giving up on each other.

Sometimes it is tough going through growing pains, but it is necessary. Our Lord Jesus Christ says the Father prunes every branch that bears fruit, so it may bear more fruit. We as coaches recognize those little fruits of their labour on the field. So let us continue to fight and to work hard no matter what the scoreboard shows."

B Team coach Charles Smoker also gave his perspective from his squad's game:

"We came out of the gates fast and threatened to score early several times but couldn't convert. ASIJ scored several quick goals and took away some of our energy. And ASIJ was strong enough to make us pay for our mistakes.

It was 5-0 at the half and we came out with attacking energy in the second half. Unfortunately, we got scored on again several times to lose 9-0 in the end. One very positive point was that we hustled hard and our conditioning is paying off. And our team is bonding and building up each other.

We're still looking for our first victory [against another B Team] so let's stay focused and hungry to work harder in practice!"

CAJ's next middle school soccer games will be at home on the morning of Saturday, October 13.
