Field hockey places second at Kanto Plains Tournament

CAJ's field hockey team played in the Kanto Plains Tournament on Saturday at YCAC. The Knights won 1-0 in the first round against BST before losing 2-1 to ASIJ in the championship game.

Against BST, CAJ had an excellent defensive effort, tallying more than 30 defensive saves. According to coach Victor Eby, goalie Eunmin didn't even touch the ball for CAJ. Eby praised Miyuki for having a very good game for the team, as she tallied 14 defensive saves.

On the offensive end, Reeko scored CAJ's lone goal on an assist from Rika. Reeko also led the team in shots on goal, and the team had five short corners and more than 10 total shots on goal.

Against ASIJ, CAJ took a 1-0 lead in the second quarter on a goal from Morgan that was assisted by Alice. However, the Mustangs scored once in the second quarter and then once more in the third quarter to take a 2-1 lead that they would end up keeping.

Eby said the game was "very competitive and well played," but saidthat ASIJ outplayed CAJ in the fourth quarter, partially due to the Knights' fatigue, to keep CAJ from scoring an equalizer.

Against the Mustangs, CAJ had a total of more than 20 defensive saves.

CAJ's captains for the two games were Morgan (versus BST) and Rina (versus ASIJ). The Knights were the Kanto Plains regular season champions and ended with an overall season record of 7-2. CAJ's official season is done, but it will have five players represent it at an All-Star game versus Seijo University at ASIJ on Tuesday, February 11.
