HS girls' cross country competes at Kanto Finals

Four members of the girls' cross country team competed at Kanto Plains Finals on Saturday at Tama Hills. The Knights only had four healthy runners and were one runner short of earning a team score from the meet.

The four runners who did compete all had season-best times on the 3.3-kilometer course. Natasha led the Knights with a time of 15:54.1 (31st out of 60 varsity runners), followed by Anna (16:02.4, 34th), Charis (16:38.9, 44th) and Sara (17:17.4, 48th). The girls had not run the course since the first meet of the season. Full results from the meet can be found

"The girls’ race was great," said coach Nate Rudd. "Since it was the 3.3-[kilometer course], which they haven’t run since the beginning of the year, it was interesting to see how they’ve improved throughout the whole season. All of them had improvements of more than one minute, so it was great to see their progress through the whole season."

Every member of the Knights' team was either a freshman or sophomore this season, so Rudd is looking forward to more success next year.

"These five girls hopefully will all return next year, and having this year of experience will help them a lot," he said.

This was the final meet of the season for the Knights. On Monday afternoon at 3:45, the team will host the annual Fun Run at CAJ.
